Let me start by just saying, “Thank you,” to anyone reading this (who’s not my husband, one of my kids, or a member of my extended family). And my family members probably won’t read it either. Once, my own mom unfollowed my blog.
*sigh*
So, I discovered Substack sometime in early September of this year (2022). It’s now November and other Substackers have asked me why I haven’t written anything yet, since I’m an editor and writer by profession. The easy answer is that I’m so busy with client work that I haven’t any time to write for myself — that is, to write what I actually want to write about when the mood strikes me. And it strikes me a lot.
Despite often feeling the urge from deep inside my interior to write something for my new website (still in development) or for Substack, I typically find myself immersed in tasks that take priority. So here I am, introducing myself so people will understand any subsequent writings that may appear on my Substack.
Don’t hold my past against me
In the past I wrote almost exclusively for the healthcare industry. One of my biggest clients at the time was The Cleveland Clinic. I wrote for their physician only portal and for the consumer healthcare site. I even wrote for their short-lived magazine, Balanced Living. Another healthcare client had me traveling to ASCO each year to report on various studies and conduct interviews with investigators of studies that interested them. Alas, the Cleveland Clinic content editor (a brilliant and wonderful woman) retired in 2015 and they replaced her with two people that I didn’t much care for. My career took a hit at that point.
I started to expand into other industries and built everything back up again. I still do some work in the healthcare industry, but now I’m much more diversified, which makes me happy and protects me from ever taking another hit like I did before.
What I like to write about vs. what I might sometimes write about
I like to write about truth, beauty, goodness, and regenerative farming, but I really don’t have a set platform, so I may occasionally write about how to write. I have very strong opinions about writing, but also have a lot to learn. And who knows? Wine pairs well with bad judgement, so I may write something mildly inappropriate, but probably not.
The Substack articles I read are mostly about this whole COVID/WEF/Great Reset debacle that has our rapt attention at present. The things I write will probably not interest the people whose articles I devour and on which I leave the occasional comment. A few times, other commenters have even replied to my comments, pulling me into a sort of comment section conversation. Crazy!

I can run in four-inch heels
My husband and I raised seven kids in our home and now that we’re almost empty-nesters, we’re buying acreage in the mountains of Idaho. That’s quite a change from the suburbs north of Houston where we currently reside. We haven’t decided whether we’re going to sell this house or just rent it out for awhile, but whatever we do, we’re starting a permaculture farm, a cool non-profit, and will host amazing events in our “event barn.”
I’ll be trading my stilettos for boots most of the time, but we’ve agreed that we’ll head to Boise once a month for my various girlie needs. And make no mistake, my personality will still shine through even when I’m sporting boots and farmgirl fashion. XOXO
