Hawthorn is one of my dear favourite medicines. Her leaves, flowers and berries are wonderful for teas, tinctures etc :-) Enjoy getting to know her!

I learned a couple years ago about why the best harvest is after the first freeze! This goes for Hawthorn Berries (excellent heart medicine) as well. The first freeze is a signal to the plant that winter has arrived, so all the focus and energy pumps INTO the berry/hip to ensure that the seeds inside of these little fertile pouches will be vital. This boots the nutrients and enhances the harmony of all the constituents. I have tons of wild roses on my land this year and am very excited to explore all the seasons of Rose's medicine.

Thank you for teaching me this Rhiannon! I do a lot of reading about growing, harvesting, medicinal herbs and plants, etc., but in all of my studies and YouTube video watching, I had never heard an explanation for that. But it makes perfect sense!

I have read about Hawthorne berries and their medicinal qualities. I have several large Hawthorne shrubs and they produce berries each year, of course. It was only sometime last year that I read about they (like so many plants on our beautiful earth) are medicine! I have yet to learn more, but it’s on the list!

Haha wow Geoff! I guess that’s a prank one plays on someone he or she doesn’t much like -- perhaps an IRS agent or something.

Love this! And I love the story of your dad that you snuck in. He sounds like a fascinating man with much to teach.♥

Thanks Sadie! He taught me so much that I didn’t realize I knew until these current troubles began. Does that make sense?

Exactly. The older I get the smarter my dad becomes. He taught me, not about fruits, but about how to not believe anyone. Damned if he wasn't right all along. He passed along the skepticism gene and I am eternally grateful. I probably owe him my life for telling certain factions to piss off.

Sadie! I could have used some of that. Your dad sounds like a very wise man who wanted to prepare his daughter for the wider world. I think my mother tried, but the way she framed her message did not resonate with me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my Momma, but my dad knew my spirit (in many ways -- my mom saved my life once) far better than she did.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Procopius! And, yes, God gave us everything we need; we must simply discover these remedies and helps. Thanks for your kind words about my inclusion of memories with my father. I don't typically like to write about my personal life -- at least not in that kind of detail, but I miss my dad and it just came to me to write it.
